No Bail For Peabody Man Accused Of Abusing Disabled Girlfriend
Thomas Aylward's drinking problem prompted a judge to ask "How do we keep him sober if he's not in custody?"

SALEM, MA -- A Salem Superior Court judge ordered a Peabody man to continue to be held without bail as he awaits trial on charges that he abused his disabled girlfriend over the course of their 2.5-year relationship. In addition to "regularly" beating and strangling the 51-year-old woman, Thomas Aylward, 55, is accused of calling her 111 times after he was arrested in June.
According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, Aylward has a long criminal record and a drinking problem. "How do we keep him sober if he’s not in custody?" Judge Salim Tabit said during Friday's hearing.
