Obituary: Alice R. (Gavin) Cheever, Longtime Peabody Resident
Affter raising her children, she worked at the Deerskin Trading Post in Danvers and later with Filene's at the Northshore Mall

Alice R. (Gavin) Cheever, of Peabody died peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Bright view assisted living facility in North Andover with her family at her side after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Lawrence C. Cheever.
She was born in Jamaica Plain, Boston, the daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Healy) Gavin and was raised there and later resided in Lynn before moving to Peabody 58 years ago.

Alice was first employed as a secretary for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Later after raising her children, she worked at the Deerskin Trading Post in Danvers and later with Filene’s at the Northshore Mall in Peabody prior to her retirement.
She enjoyed going to the Peabody Life Center and playing beano on Thursday and Sunday nights. She and her husband loved to go out Dancing at the different halls on the North Shore.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lawrence “Larry” J. Cheever of Salem and Paul E. and Marcia Cheever of Mashpee, MA, her cherished grandchildren, Allison M. Rochette and her husband Christopher of Raymond, NH, Karen D. Cheever of Georgetown, Christopher P. and Eric P. Cheever both of Barnstable, MA, a great granddaughter, Melissa Rochette and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ann Gavin and the mother-in-law of the late Patricia (Kustka) Cheever.
A Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 until 8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:00 AM from the Funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
