Obituary: Edward J. Bator Sr., Worked as a Refueler For Butler Aviation at the Logan Airport for Many Years

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and served on the USS Mt. Olympus AGC - 8.

JACKSONVILLE, FL (PEABODY) – Edward J. Bator, Sr., 84, beloved husband of the late Bridget (Buckley) Bator, died peacefully at Heartland Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville, following an extended illness.

Born in Malden, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Dziob) Bator. He grew up in Malden where he attended schools, and lived in Peabody for over 35 years. He recently moved to Florida where he lived the last four years.

Ed enjoyed being with his beloved wife and family, boating, fishing, traveling, movies, theater, dancing, and was gifted woodworker caring for his homes. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He loved listening to music, especially the Oldies, and his day trips with his friends to the Connecticut Casinos.

He is survived by two sons, John Bator & his wife Sara of Peabody and Edward J. Bator, Jr & his wife Betty of Jacksonville, FL: a daughter Cheryl A. Conway & her husband David of Amesbury; five grandchildren Brandon Bator of Jacksonville, FL, Jessica Conway of North Andover, Hannah Bator of Peabody, Richard Pacheco and Norma Rice both of Jacksonville, FL: five great-grandchildren, Chloe Rice, Christian Clouser, Brayden Pacheco, Blake Pacheco, and Britney Pacheco all of Jacksonville, FL, a sister-in-law Chrissy O’Neill of County Cork, Ireland, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his parents and wife, by siblings John Bator, Helen Baker, Louis Bator, and Jenny Perillo.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday April 17, 2015 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 – 8 P.M. Burial in Forestdale Cemetery, Malden.
