Obituary: Evelyn (Letourneau) Bartkiewicz; Loved to Camp, Camped in 49 States, and All But One Province of Canada

Evelyn (Letourneau) Bartkiewicz, 82, of Peabody, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with lung and brain cancer. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Francis S. Bartkiewicz, in 2009.

Born in Nahant, Massachusetts, August 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Mabel A. (Woods) Letourneau.

She attended elementary school in Nahant and was a graduate of St. Mary’s, Class of 1950, in Lynn. After high school she worked for New England Telephone Company in Nahant and later in Lynn. After marrying Francis in 1955, they moved to Peabody, where she has lived until her death. She and her husband loved camping. Throughout their lives they drove to and camped in 49 states, and all but one province of Canada. She also enjoyed spending time with family, going to Foxwoods, and playing cards with friends.

She leaves two children, a son Mark and his wife Marylou Barnes-Bartkiewicz of Peabody, and a daughter Teresa “Terri” and her husband David Munroe of Beverly, her beloved grandchildren, Melanie Bartkiewicz and her fiancé Harry-Jacques Pierre of Salem, Mitchell and his wife Jenna Bartkiewicz of Memphis, TN, Leighanne Munroe and Brittany Munroe of Beverly.

Evelyn was the sister of the late Fred Letourneau, Louis Letourneau, and Mildred (Letourneau) Bookmiller. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, and a special niece and goddaughter Martha Letourneau-Craven.
