Obituary: Helen F. (Lord) Dube of Peabody, Employed as a Clerk at the Salem Superior Court for 27 Years

Helen F. (Lord) Dube, 84, of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died early Saturday morning at the Continuing Care Unit at Brooksby Village, Peabody. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Dube.

Born in Salem, Helen was the daughter of the late George and Katherine (Hennessey) Lord. She was raised and educated in Salem and has spent the last 40 years living in Peabody.

Helen was first employed at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and then as a medical transcriber for Dr. John Flynn of Salem. Later, she was employed at Salem Superior Court as a Clerk for 27 years, surrounded by coworkers who became life-long friends.

Helen was an artist, well-versed in various mediums from pastels to oil paintings, and was an exceptionally talented portrait artist. She also found joy in knitting, sewing, gardening and swimming at the Salem YMCA. While living at Brooksby Village, she enjoyed socializing and being in the company of newly-found friends.

Helen is survived by her three daughters, Paula Dube and her close friend Christine Spont of Allston, Suzanne Kelley and her husband Denis of Lynnfield and Kathryn LeGere of Georgetown. She is also survived by her five loving grandchildren, Daniel, Joseph, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Julianne to whom she was affectionately known as “Nana” and by her great grandchildren, Jane, Anne, and Gwenyth who knew her as “Gran Nan.”

Visiting hours for Helen will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Maria Goretti Church, Lynnfield and burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
