Joseph B. Schulte 92, of Peabody, devoted husband of the late Louise Pearl (Abbott) Schulte with whom he shared 64 years of marriage, died surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Beverly.
Mr. Schulte was born in Sioux City, Iowa, son of Henry and Victoria (Karlovitz) Schulte. He was raised in SD and graduated from Yankton High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Coast Guard, served aboard the USS Menges (DE320) American Destroyer which escorted convoys in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and Asiatic Pacific Theaters of Operation. In 1945, he was honorably discharged.

During his working career, Joseph was employed in many line of work and prior to his retirement in 1995, he was a truck mechanic for several years. He enjoyed auto mechanics, excelled at pencil sketching, was an accomplished mandolin and harmonica player, mountain climbing and loved listening to country music.
Joseph is survived by his children, Anne C. Schulte, Sterling Schulte both of Peabody, Sandra Schulte, Mary Jo Latorella and her husband Bruce all of Haverhill; his grandchildren, Christopher Latorella, Jason and Arellis Latorella, Antonio Latorella, Wanda Latorella and her fiancé Eric Skofield; 2 great grandchildren, Jayla Latorella and Jackson Skofield; a brother and his wife, Francis and Anne Schulte. He was also predeceased by his daughter Joyce Schulte.

Josephs’ family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, Jun 3, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday June 4th at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery, Peabody.
