Mary Christie Stather 94, formerly of Beverly, beloved wife of the late Donald G. Stather, died Friday, January 2, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Annie (Prott) Christie.
As a young woman, she worked for the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II where she met her husband. She married and moved to the United States in 1946, settling in Beverly where she resided for over fifty years.

A resident of Peabody for the past fifteen years, she was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Beverly where she was a member of the choir, the Altar Guild and the Couples Club. Mary enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends and also loved to cook and bake. Most of all, she adored her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving her are two daughters, Christie Steele and her husband, William of Peabody and Sheila LoPresti and her husband, Philip of Ft. Myers, FL, a son, Douglas C. Stather and his wife, Linda of Bonita Springs, FL, two granddaughters, Stephanie Steele of Magnolia and Kimberly Steele of Peabody.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 4 Ocean St., Beverly, Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. Burial in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody.
