Obituary: Mary E. (Melota) LaBelle, Member of the Telephone Pioneers

Employed for many years as a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company in Salem.

Mary E. (Melota) LaBelle 88, formerly of Peabody, beloved wife of the late Lawrence P. LaBelle, died Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Brentwood Health Care Center in Danvers.

Born and raised in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Mary C. (Slazenik) Melota.

Mrs. LaBelle had been employed for many years as a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company in Salem until the time of her retirement. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

She is survived by her son, Paul A. LaBelle and his wife, Marilyn, a grandson, Jason LaBelle, a sister, Caroline Ryan, two brothers, Joseph Melota Jr. and his wife, Jean, and Robert Melota and his wife, Gilda and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, Thursday, April 30 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A visiting hour will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. Burial in the Central Cemetery, Beverly.
