Obituary: Michael C. Mahoney, 54, Enjoyed Broadcasting the Peabody High School Hockey Games For Years

Michael C. Mahoney, 54, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Saturday at his home. Born in Melrose, he was the son of Dr. Robert and Gerry (Doherty) Mahoney of Peabody.
Mike was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1978. He continued his education at UMass Amherst and received his degree in 1984.

Mike was employed as a home base computer repair technician for many years. He enjoyed broadcasting the Peabody High School hockey games with Kevin Mulherin for many years, and occasionally he would the broadcast the hockey games for both Danvers High School and Salem State University.
Mike enjoyed camping with his son Robbie and playing his guitar with his brother and friends, and in his earlier years, he enjoyed playing youth hockey and baseball.

Besides his loving parents, he is survived by his son Robbie Mahoney of Peabody, his brother Mark Mahoney of Melrose, his two nephews, Thomas and Alex Mahoney, his partner, Cindy Hosman of NH and is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody and his Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
