Obituary: Michael Venios, Born in Peabody

Michael Venios, 84, of Peabody passed away Monday, September 29, 2014. He was born in Peabody, son of the late Andrew and Theodora (Stevis) Venios, where he was raised and resided here all his life.

Michael started working at an early age at Shawmut Leather Factory to help support his family and retired after 34 years. In his retirement, he loved boating with his brother, fishing, and most recently, spending the winter months in Florida with his sisters, Soula, Eva and Ellen, and brother-in-law, Jimmy. Michael loved spending time with his family and never missed a holiday party or family gathering. He was always ready and willing to lend a “helping hand” to anyone who needed it.

He is survived by his siblings, Mary Kaldes, John Venios and his wife Marilyn, and Ellen Venios, all of Peabody; Eva Tournas of Salem; nieces and nephews, Theodora Tournas and Stephanie Scanlan of Salem; George Tournas and his wife Debbie, Charles Kaldes and his wife, Maureen; Andrew Kaldes, Theodora Markham and Kirsten Nikola, all of Peabody; grandnieces and nephews, Jason and his wife Janelle, Jimi, Christine, Drew, Maura, Evan, Nikko, Andrew, Patrick and Matthew; and great-grandniece Mazzy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Diane “Soula” Venios Nikola, and brothers-in law, Prokopes Kaldes, James Tournas and Edwin Nikola.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by Services in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
