Obituary: Richard G Ruth, American Airlines Cargo Handler For 38 Years

Enlisted with the U.S. Air Force, and served for over 3 years in Southern Japan with the 43rd Troop Carrier during the Korean War.

Richard G Ruth, 84, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died Thursday evening at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Madore) Ruth and former husband of the late Joan Rommel.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Richard and Mary (McAloon) Ruth. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1949. After high school, Richard enlisted with the United States Air Force and served for over 3 years in Southern Japan with the 43rd Troop Carrier during the Korean War before he was honorably discharged in 1953.

Richard was employed with American Airlines for over 38 years as a cargo handler. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his son Richard Ruth and his partner Esther Linares of Peabody, his daughter, Janet Tavares of Florida, his two grandchildren, Sabrina and Crystal Tavares, both of FL, his companion of 8 years, Dorothy Bermani of Peabody, and also by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, James Ruth and Dorothy Yasi.

His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
