Obituary: Russell V. Gallant, Meat Cutter for Over 40 Years

Lived in Peabody for over 50 years

Russell V Gallant, 82, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died early Wednesday morning at the Pilgrim Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Betty (Stankiewicz) Gallant with whom he shared over 61 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Mary (Gallant) Gallant. He was raised and educated in Lynn and has lived in Peabody for the past 55 years.

Russell was employed as a meat cutter for over 40 years and worked for many food chains throughout the North Shore.

Russell enjoyed playing cards and dancing and was a member of the Elks B.P.O.E # 1409 in Peabody for many years, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and sharing in all of their endeavors.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his two sons, Rusty and his wife Joan Gallant of Peabody, and Steven and Kristen Gallant of Topsfield, his daughter, Nancy Maher of Ipswich, his brothers, Arthur Gallant of Peabody and Robert Gallant of Winchester and is also survived by his five grandchildren, John, Eric, and Colin Maher, and Monique and Janelle Gallant, and by his two great grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Edward, James, Clifford, and Donald Gallant, and Margaret Amirault.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
