OUI Arrest After Peabody Man Allegedly Hits Pole on Andover Street.

PEABODY, MA - A Peabody man was charged with drunk driving following an early morning accident on Andover Street on Thursday.

Shortly before 5:30 a.m., police responded to a single car accident near 218 Andover Street. The driver had allegedly struck a utility pole and fled the scene.

In addition to the utility pole, two parked vehicles were struck.

Police arrested Juan Jose Bencosme Jr. 27, of 8 North Central Street in Peabody and charged him with operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle
