Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce Awards 2 $3.5K Scholarships

The $3,500 scholarships were awarded to students planning to pursue studies in business, and STEAM fields, including the medical field.

PEABODY, MA — Julia Smith and Nayatie Gabriel were each awarded a $3,500 scholarship from the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce as part of their annual scholarship program.

The scholarships are awarded to those demonstrating a desire to pursue degrees in business and STEAM fields, including the medical field.

Smith intends on pursuing a degree in marketing. She told the Scholarship Committee that she excels in math classes and "I enjoy combining my mathematical skills with creativity that comes along with marketing."

Gabriel was awarded a STEAM scholarship as she pursues a degree as a nurse practitioner with a focus in gynecology.

"The best care comes from people who truly value their patients' needs," she told the Committee. "This is the type of medical provider I aspire to be."

The Committee said both students demonstrate their resolve to better serve the lives of future generations in their daily work.

"They will grow into tomorrow's business leaders and help to spread the mission of the Chamber by 'empowering businesses to succeed while enriching the community,'" the Chamber Scholarship Committee said.

Scholarships are made possible through the support of Peabody Area Chamber member businesses who play or sponsor the annual Torigian Golf Classic.
