Peabody Brothers Compete in Hockey Tournament

Alex and Chris Minter play on the same team this week during competition at Hockey Night in Boston.

Peabody brothers Alex and Chris Minter played hockey together all through their youth. Today, Alex and Chris attend different high schools, but for this week they’re teammates once again as part of the Hockey Night in Boston Major Showcase in Haverhill.

The tandem is wearing the blue and white of TeamOne New England.

The Major Showcase features players from over 20 states as well as eastern Canada.

“It means a lot to me, but probably more to my family,” Alex Minter said of competing at Hockey Night. “They’ve brought me up and they’ve been a huge help in getting me where I am now.”

Alex Minter was a star at the Governor’s Academy last season scoring 18 goals and adding five assists. He was also a part of TeamOne New England’s inaugural HNIB entry last season.

He has done well on the ice so far, especially on the score sheet, and he hopes to get noticed by one of the dozens of scouts in attendance this week.

Both Alex and Chris competed at the Chowder Cup last week and are now in the midst of playing seven games in four days at Hockey Night.

“We just came from another tournament where we had to play five games,” Chris Minter said. “It’s exciting and tiring at the same time.”

For Chris Minter, a tall defenseman from , the goal for the rest of this week is simple: get noticed.

“I want to score, use my body and not let the other team score,” he said. “I want to get looked at by coaches and have someone talk to me.”

For now though, Alex and Chris Minter will continue to play together in the same tournament that has produced names such as Brian Leetch, Jeremy Roenick, Keith Tkachuk and Bill Guerin, and they’ll get to do it together.
