Peabody Councilor Wants Bigger Recycling Bins

Ward 1 Councilor Jon Turco says trash blows out of the smaller bins and that they fill up too quickly.

PEABODY, MA -- Ward 1 Councilor Jon Turco is calling on City Council to ask Peabody's waste management contractor to provide residents with bigger recycling bins. Turco made the same request twice last year. While Peabody still uses the smaller, box bins, many communities have switched to larger bins as people recylce more and as waste management companies have started accepted more items for recycling.

"We need to update our containers, let’s provide containers that we can cover so the recycling doesn’t blow all over the streets," Turco said, according to the Lynn Item, which first reported this story.
