UPDATE: Victims in Peabody Murder-Suicide Identified
The incident remains under investigation by the Essex County DA's office.
PEABODY, MA - Officials have identified the two people involved in a murder-suicide at 11 Winter Street in Peabody on Tuesday evening.
Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Essex District Attorney’s Office and Peabody Police Detectives have identified the victims in last night’s murder-suicide at 11 Winter Street in Peabody as Elisete Benevides, 51 and Gelcino Souza Oliveira, 50, of 594 Cabot Street, Beverly. Ms. Benevides was the sole resident at 11 Winter Street.
Peabody Police received a 911 call from Ms. Benevides’ son-in-law requesting that police check on her, because he had received a phone call from her sister in Brazil who had been speaking with Ms. Benevides when she suddenly screamed and the call ended. Police responded immediately and found the two deceased on the side porch leading from the driveway into the home. They both had suffered from knife wounds.

Ms. Benevides and Mr. Oliveira had been in a dating relationship which Ms. Benevides had ended in October. There were no restraining orders or previous reports of violence, according to police.
This matter remains under investigation.
