Peabody Firefighters Mow Lawn of Hospitalized World War II Veteran

Peabody firefighters helped finish mowing the lawn of a World War II veteran who needed to be taken to the hospital Wednesday.

Peabody, MA — When a World War II veteran needed to be taken to the hospital Wednesday, Peabody firefighters stayed behind and helped finish mowing his lawn.

The Peabody Firefighters Local 925 union shared photos of the three firefighters — identified as L'Italian, Lewis and Javery — completing the veteran's yard work.

The veteran's daughter, Barbara Copp reportedly saw the firefighters at work when she returned from the hospital, The Salem News reported

"I was just so overwhelmed," Copp told The Salem News. "They were magnificent."

The veteran is recovering well in the hospital and hopes to be released soon, Copp told The Salem News.
