Peabody Getting Nearly $2 Million For Economic Development

The funding includes $1.2 million to create a children's museum.

PEABODY, MA -- City officials plan to use $1.2 million earmarked for the city in an economic development bill to convert the shuttered St. Paul's Church on Washington Street into a Children's Museum. The bill, which includes the sales tax holiday scheduled for later this month, passed both chambers of the state legislature. Gov. Charles Baker is expected to sign the bill.

The bill contains other earmarks for Peabody, including:

  • $150,000 for welcome signs to the city.
  • $250,000 for signs and other improvements for Centennial Park.
  • $350,000 for a redesign to improve traffic flow near Pulaski Mills.
