Peabody Girls District Champs in LL Softball

Now it's on to the state tournament for the Peabody girls, and just in their second year of fast-pitch softball.

The Peabody Majors All-Stars decisively defeated Swampscott again Wednesday night, 12-1, for the District 16 championship, reports the Daily Item of Lynn. Peabody had bested Swampscott, 13-1, on Friday, earlier in the tournament.

Olivia Keane, on the mound for Peabody, kept the host's bats silent for most of the game -- Peabody had a 12-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, reports the Item. Swampscott managed in one run and had the bases loaded with one out, but then Keane retired two more batters and that was the game.
