Peabody GreenFest 2017
Celebrate Earth Day at Peabody GreenFest: Saturday April 29th (9 am to 2 pm) @ Brown School
Peabody's seventh annual GreenFest will take place on Saturday, April 29th, from 9 am until 2pm at the Captain Samuel Brown School, 150 Lynn St, in Peabody. This year GreenFest will be on the same day as Peabody City Clean Up, so celebrate Earth Day by doing both! Citizens can give back to the city by cleaning up, and also enjoy the rest of the day at GreenFest!
Don’t miss the opportunity to recycle electronics for a minimal fee and bring old documents for large scale paper shredding (the first 2 boxes are free). There will also be separate recycling for numerous items: shoes & old shoe laces, textiles, cell phones, can tabs, books and eye glasses (all for free). Among the numerous exhibitors participating in GreenFest include Salem Sound Coastwatch, Peabody Institute Library's Creativity Lab, Trinity Solar, Mass Department of Environmental Protection, Tillie’s Farm, Rebirth Fitness, Mass Department of Agricultural Resources, and many more.
At GreenFest Salem Sound Coastwatch will have a presentation about the very important topic of flood mitigation (a Peabody issue) with a focus on hydrology, geomorphology, and coastal and regional geology. Small Biz Computing, the creator of the "green machine" computer, will host a clinic where attendees can watch students build a gaming computer throughout the day at GreenFest. Visitors can also visit a pop-up coffee bar hosted by Breaking Grounds Coffee House of Peabody, and watch a 3D printer print objects which will be provided by the Library's Creativity Lab. Chris’ Farm Stand will be giving away a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) membership to one attendee. This lucky visitor will win a summer full of free farm fresh vegetables weekly from our local farm stand, Chris’ Farm Stand. In addition, there will be student sustainable science fair projects, and fun art activities for everyone.
