Two Peabody men won $1 million in Massachusetts lottery scratch-off games within days of one another.

PEABODY, MA -- Brian McLaughlin of Peabody became the Massachusetts State Lottery's first $1 million prize winner of 2018 when he won the sixth prize in the lottery's $200,000 a Year for Life” instant game. McLaughlin, who purchased the winning ticket at the Shaw’s supermarket in the Northshore Mall, opted for the one-time, $650,000 cash payout before taxes. Shaw's will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.

In late December, Isidro Tinajero of Peabody, became the fourteenth $1 million prize winner in the 2016 edition of the Massachusetts State Lottery’s 100X The Cash instant game. Tinajero chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. He purchased his winning ticket at Market & Liquors Store on Newbury Street.

Tinajero told lottery officials he plans to buy a house with his winnings.
