Peabody To Host 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony For 25th Anniversary Of Attacks

PEABODY, MA — Peabody will hold a remembrance ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attack on America.

The observance is scheduled for Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Peabody Public Safety Memorial on Perkins Street, across from Emerson Park.

The public is invited to attend the gathering, which the city said will honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, including first responders who died in the aftermath of the attacks.

The ceremony will include remarks from city officials, a moment of silence and the traditional ringing of a bell symbolizing the "final alarm."

The bell ringing will be a tribute recognizing firefighters and first responders who have fallen in the line of duty.

"As we observe the 25th anniversary of September 11th, we stand together in solemn remembrance of those we lost and the first responders who gave everything," Peabody Mayor Bettencourt said. "Peabody remains committed to honoring their legacy and ensuring this day is never forgotten."

The event will include a moment of silence as part of the observance.
