Peabody Institute Library To Slash Hours Amid Budget Crunch
Hours will be reduced at the South Branch and West Branch as of July 6.
PEABODY, MA — The Peabody Institute Library is the latest on the North Shore to announce that it will reduce its hours at some branches amid a municipal budget crunch.
The library will reduce hours at its West Branch and South Branch as of July 6.
"While we are disappointed that these changes are necessary, we remain committed to providing high-quality library services and maintaining access to our collections, programs, technology, and staff expertise," the library said on Monday.

The updated South Branch and West Branch hours will be:
Monday: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Tuesday: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Wednesday: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
Thursday: 1:00 PM–9:00 PM
Friday: Closed
Saturday: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
Sunday: Closed
Main Library hours remain unchanged.
"We understand that these reduced hours may create challenges for some patrons, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support of the library," the PIL said.
Hours at the Beverly Public Library were also recently slashed as of July 1.
