Peabody Little Leaguers Compete in 28th Ray Gallant Tourney

The 28th annual Ray Gallant Baseball Tournament gets underway later this week, with eight North Shore teams competing for the title of 2011 Champion.

The tournament starts Thursday with two games that evening -- Lynn versus Gloucester and Peabody vs Danvers -- followed by another two games Friday night, before continuing into the elimination round on Saturday and on to the championship game Tuesday night. A second title game will be played Wednesday if needed.

All games are played at O'Grady Field at in Salem.

Last year's champion was Swampscott.

Representing the Tanner City on Thursday is a roster of familiar Little Leage standouts from this year's Williamsport teams. The club will be managed by Joe Spatafore and coached by John Celentano, Sarkis Sarkisian and Sarki Sarkisian.
