Peabody Man Charged With Drunk Driving for Fourth Time

The man allegedly crashed a stolen car into a pole and tried to flee on foot.

A Peabody man was charged with drunk driving for the fourth time after he reportedly drove a stolen car into a pole on Mason Street at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police arrested Paul T. Carolan, 56, 14 Washington Place, Apt. 2, Peabody, and charged him with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor (fourth offense), larceny of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense) and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Police responded to Mason Street after Carolan allegedly crashed a car into a pole. He ran toward Washington Place, but he was later arrested.

Police said the car was also moved from Mason Street to Birney Street by an unknown person. Police towed the vehicle.
