Peabody Man Denies Killing Girlfriend's Dog

Steven Severino, 31, was released on $150 bail after pleading not guilty Tuesday.

MALDEN, MA -- A Peabody man pleaded not guilty in Malden District Court Tuesday to one count of animal cruelty. Steven Severino, 31, of Peabody, was arrested by Everett Police Monday after neighbors reported hearing what sounded like a dog yelp and an animal being thrown against a structure. Police said the dog died after suffering a broken jaw and other injuries.

Severino, who denied hurting the dog, was released on $150 bail. He is due back in court on November 7.
