Peabody Man Escapes Mobile Home Fire
Peabody firefighters knocked down working fire at 30 Pine Mobile Estates on Saturday night.
Stephen Majur didn't waste any time getting out of his home Saturday night when he discovered heavy smoke pouring out of his rear bedroom.
Fortunately, Majur, a long-time resident at Pine Mobile Estates just off Route 1 North, escaped the fire that tore through his home uninjured, but he lost everything in the blaze.
Peabody firefighters responded to the scene within minutes after the fire was called in around 10:10 p.m. and it took 15 firefighters about 2o minutes to knock down the fire, which tore through the roof. But there was nothing they could do to save Majur's home or his belongings.

"What do you think happened here?" Majur said to Peabody Patch when approached for comment. "I had a (expletive) fire and I lost everything in my life."
Peabody Fire Capt. John Hosman said Engine 7 from the West Peabody station on Lowell Street was the first to arrive and immediately doused the fire with nearly all of the water inside the tanker truck. He said Engine 3 from the Prospect Street station followed and fed Engine 3 more water so they could continue to fight the fire.

"Our biggest concern was the exposures next door," said Hosman, referring to the close proximity of the other mobile homes and the windy conditions.
Fortunately, Hosman said firefighters were able to contain the knock down the blaze before it had a chance to ignite any other units and no one was injured. The Lynn and Lynnfield fire departments provided station coverage for Peabody.
Peabody Fire Inspector Dave Sampson was at the scene after 11:30 p.m. to determine the cause of the fire, but as of 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, the cause was still unknown.
