Peabody Man Facing Cocaine, Animal Cruelty Charges

Peabody police said charges against the Goodale Street resident came through collaboration with Lynnfield and Revere Animal Control.

PEABODY, MA — A collaboration with local animal control officers, the Animal Rescue League and the NEMLAC Swat Team led to the search of a Goodale Street home and drug and animal cruelty charges filed against a Peabody man.

Peabody police said Duarte Silva, 47, was charged with three counts of animal cruelty and one count of cocaine possession with intent to distribute.

The ARL and animal control officers from Lynnfield and Revere assisted in the investigation.

"This arrest is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our officers and supporting agencies to keep Peabody safe," Peabody Police Chief Thomas Griffin said. "We will continue to pursue and dismantle drug operations and address animal cruelty in our community."

Griffin encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities to the police.
