Peabody Mayor Will Join Other Mayors in a Moment of Silence to Mark the Two-Year Anniversary of Boston Marathon Bombing

A moment of silence will be held at 2:49 p.m. on April 15.

Peabody Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr. will join Boston Mayor Martin Walsh and mayors from across the state in leading a moment of silence at 2:49 p.m. on April 15 to mark the two-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings.

The Mayor plans to gather with residents, local officials and city employees in front of Peabody City Hall to help honor the resiliency, generosity and strength that were exemplified in the response to the loss and the tragedies of April 15th, 2013.

“Although the horrific events of two years ago shocked and saddened us, they also brought out the best in our entire region,” Mayor Bettencourt said. “This anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the sorrow we still feel for the victims and their families. It also allows us to recapture the sense of unity, strength and compassion that was on display for the whole world to see.”
