Peabody Named One of America's Safest Cities

What are the odds of you being the victim of a violent or property crime in Peabody?

PEABODY, MA — Peabody has been named one of America's No. 100 safest cities in Neighborhood Scout's 2017 rankings after not being included in the 2016 list, landing at No. 92.

According to Neighborhood Scout's data, there are 2.97 violent crimes per 1,000 residents in Peabody per year, and 8.1 property crimes per 1,000 residents. Both figures are significantly lower than the violent and property crime rates nationally and statewide.

Neighborhood Scout further indicates that you have a 1 in 337 chance of becoming a victim of violent crime in town, and 1 in 124 chance of becoming a victim of property crime.

Here's a look at the safest neighborhoods in Peabody. Dark blue (West Peabody) represents the lowest crime rates, while gray (Proctor) represents higher, according to Neighborhood Scout.

The odds of being a victim of a violent crime in the United States are 1 in 256 and of a property crime 1 in 59.

While it was listed in the top 100 nationally, Beverly was also named the 18th-safest in Massachusetts.

Neighborhood Scout's data ranks the 100 safest cities in America with 25,000 or more people. The rankings are based on the total number of property and violent crimes per 1,000 residents.
