Peabody National Loses to Swampscott on Walks

Peabody pitchers Jake Zueli and Vasili Stefanopoulos kept Swampscott from any hits on Sunday, but ultimately allowed too many walks at Wyoma Field.

With the game called off on Saturday due to inclement weather, the Peabody National team faced off against Swampscott on Sunday afternoon at Wyoma Field in Lynn.

The Peabody all-stars’ first outing in the District 16 tournament fell short, however, losing to Swampscott, 2-0. The Peabody duo of Jake Zueli and Vasili Stefanopoulos did not allow any hits in the loss, but Zueli allowed a run on four walks in the first inning and Vasili came in as relief in the second, allowing one run on three walks and a sacrifice fly in the third inning.

In double elimination play for the tournament, Peabody must win its next game on Tuesday (5:45 p.m. at Pine Hill) against West Lynn American to stay alive.
