Peabody Off to Solid Start in Gallant Tournament

Peabody got off to a a solid start in the Thursday night, pushing past Danvers, 10-1.
The Tanner City club, made up of Little League stars, put five more runs on the scoreboard late in the game after Nick Palma and Christian Kukas both homered in the fourth inning for a 5-0 Peabody lead.
Longtime tournament coach Joe Spatafore said Saturday's game will be the true test of how well his team might do in the tournament. Peabody plays Lynn, which also won its first game, at 4 p.m. at O'Grady Field in Salem.

Spatafore has coached the club for 16 years, saw four tournament titles and 11 finals appearances. Ever humble, Spatafore says it's the kids, not him.
