Peabody Police Add 12 New AEDs For Patrol Units

PEABODY, MA — Peabody police have added 12 new automated external defibrillators to patrol units across the city after a donation from the J.B. Thomas-Lahey Foundation.

The Peabody Police Department said the foundation's donation made it possible to purchase 12 new ZOLL AED 3 units. The department also recognized Sgt. Jonathan Blodgett for the research and work involved in identifying the equipment.

Peabody police credited the department's training division with deploying the new AEDs with patrol units throughout the community.

The ZOLL AED 3 is an automated external defibrillator designed to assist during sudden cardiac arrest. The units provide visual and voice instructions and real-time feedback to help rescuers deliver CPR and, when needed, administer a shock.

"This donation isn't simply an investment in equipment — it's an investment in saving lives," Peabody police said.
