Peabody Police and Fire Equipped with Nalaxone

Police and fire chiefs praise efforts to fight opioid epidemic.

PEABODY,MA - Peabody Police and Fire Departments are now equipped to administer the opioid overdose reversal drug, naloxone.

A $2,500 grant from the Lahey Health Foundation and a $1,000 grant from the Healthy Peabody Collaborative purchased the initial supply of the drug. Peabody will also benefit from a state grant to purchase Nalaxone and the city’s EMT provider Atlantic Ambulance has agreed to pay for resupplies.

“These generous grants from our outstanding community partners help ease the steep cost of this life saving medication,” said Mayor Ted Bettencourt. “We need to do everything we can to combat the opioid epidemic and equipping our police and fire departments with naloxone is a critical step.”
