Peabody Police Identify Man Found Near Cedar Pond

Timothy O'Neil was unresponsive when officers arrived at the scene Friday afternoon; he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

PEABODY, MA – A man who died Friday after being found unresponsive near Cedar Pond in Peabody has been identified.

Timothy O'Neil, 48, was discovered face down in the water around 2 p.m., according to the Salem News. Police were called to the scene at 2:22 p.m. and arrived to find the caller performing CPR on O'Neil, Peabody Police Captain Dennis Bonaiuto said.

First responders continued efforts to resuscitate O'Neil, who was taken to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after 3 p.m.

Police in Peabody are investigating the death with the assistance of detectives from the Essex County District Attorney's office and Massachusetts State Police. A spokesperson from the Essex County DA's office told the Salem News that foul play is not suspected.
