Peabody Power Restored After Elementary School Was Put In Dark

PEABODY, MA — A West Peabody power outage expected to last up to six hours put an elementary school in the dark before crews restored power.

Peabody Municipal Light said about 250 buildings were without power as of about 11:30 a.m. — including the Burke School.

PMLP said the Burke School would have no power for the duration of the restoration.

But the utility said early Thursday afternoon that crews had restored power ahead of schedule.

"The line crews, engineering and dispatch teams were able to get workers on the ground and in the air to resolve the problem in record time," PMLP said. "Everything indicates that the equipment failure was caused by tree contact."
