Peabody Preps For 2020 Census

Mayor Ted Bettencourt will host a kick-off event later this month.

City of Pealbody: The City of Peabody is gearing up for the 2020 Census by hosting a public forum on Wednesday evening, October 23rd at 6:00pm in the Wiggin Auditorium at Peabody City Hall.

Hosted by Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr. and representatives from the U.S. Census Bureau, the event will provide valuable information for those seeking part-time employment opportunities as Census Takers. Census representatives will also field questions about the decennial count and provide insight into Peabody’s 2020 census operation. “As we prepare to ensure an accurate count of Peabody residents in 2020, this forum will serve as an important first step,” said Mayor Bettencourt. “I hope many residents will stop by City Hall to learn about job opportunities with the Census and some of the reasons why an accurate count is so important to our community.” The Census counts every person living in the United States and the five U.S. territories. It is mandated by the Constitution and conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau. The census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support for cities and towns.
