Peabody Public Services Honored For Water Infrastructure Project

The New England Water Works Association named Peabody's Department of Public Services as its Utility of the Year,

PEABODY, MA — Peabody Public Services was recently honored as a New England Utility of the Year for the city's Clean & Sustainable Water Infrastructure project.

The New England Water Works Association presented Peabody officials with the honor during its annual conference last week.

The Clean & Sustainable Water Infrastructure project is a four-phased, $32-million initiative designed to modernize the city's water treatment and distribution systems.

"I want to recognize Department of Public Services Director Bob Labossiere and his outstanding team for their hard work and professionalism during the past several years of this project," Peabody Mayor TedBettencourt said. "Peabody is now in a position to produce our own water and control our own water rates for years to come."

The New England Water Works Association — which was established in 1882 — is the leading authority on education, training opportunities, and public outreach to protect and improve drinking water and water utility operations.
