Peabody Starts Scholarship In Memory Of Late Superintendent

Cara E. Murtagh died unexpectedly over the Thanksgiving weekend last year.

The Peabody Education Foundation is delighted to announce the establishment of the Cara E. Murtagh Memorial Scholarship. The Scholarship will honor Cara’s memory, her dedication and commitment to education, as well as her love for the school children of Peabody. The scholarship will be awarded to a Peabody High School senior who possesses a strong work ethic, demonstrates excellent preparation and organizational skills, is engaged in the community, has achieved good academic standing and is self-motivated.

At the time of her passing, Cara’s family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Peabody Education Foundation in her memory. Donations and condolence messages came in from across the country attesting to the love and admiration so many shared for her. The PEF will award $2,500 to a Peabody High School senior on a yearly basis in her memory.
