IMAGE GALLERY: Peabody Tanners Lose Co-ed Track Meet to Marblehead

The Peabody Tanners boys track team had just lost its track meet to the Marblehead High Magicians, 75-61, and the girls track team hoped to avoid a sweep.

It didn't happen.

The Peabody Tanners girls track team fell to Marblehead High, 70-66, after the Lady Magicians won the 4x400 meter relay, which proved to be the deciding event. The double track meet loss represented a major defeat for the Peabody Tanners track program which is one of the top schools in the Northeastern Conference.

But the Lady Tanners didn't lose their meet without putting up a fight and winning their share of events. Sarah May out ran the Magicians in the 400 and 800-meter  events. Pam Zabala won the discus and shot events, and Catarina Rocha finished first in the two-mile and javelin event.

For the boys, Peabody High's Nick Christensen won the 2-mile, Austin Brewster won the 100-meter dash, Zach Grube finished first in the high jump and Nick Marotta won the shot.
