Peabody West 10's Breeze Past East Lynn in District Opener

LYNN — The Peabody West 10-year-old All Stars rolled past East Lynn, 18-0, to open the 9/10 District 16 Little League Tournament on Saturday morning.
Peabody West's bats got cooking from the outset. Matthew Droggitis was in the leadoff spot and singled, which was followed by singles from Jimmy DiCarlo, Ryan Moreschi and Cory Dooley to give Peabody West a 2-0 lead after one inning.
The bats continued to explode in the second inning. Aidan Horgan started the frame with a walk and Jason LaRosa singled behind him. Cullen Pasterick drew a walk, which brought back the top of the order and Droggitis promptly doubled to bring in runs; Moreschi (single) and Dooley (double) kept the rally alive behind him, giving Peabody West an 8-0 lead after two innings.

Meanwhile, Moreschi was dominant on the mound, tossing three scoreless innings and giving up just one hit with seven strikeouts, including striking out the side in order to end the third inning. Horgan closed out the game on the hill, striking out a pair in the fourth inning.
Peabody West crossed three more runs across the plate in the third inning when Droggitis and Horgan came around to score, and PWLL put an exclamation point on the game in the fourth inning, scoring eight runs for an 18-0 lead.

Droggitis (two doubles, two singles), Dooley (two singles, one double and a walk) and Moreschi (four singles) had a 4-for-4 day for Peabody West and Horgan (two doubles and a walk) went 3 for 3.
PWLL got strong efforts in the field from Mark Bettancourt, Gabriel Casiano, Brendan Kobierski and Spencer Parziale.
Peabody West is off until Friday, when it will play crosstown rival, Peabody, at Wyoma (5:30).
