Peabody West Falls to Hanover in Opening Round of Final Four
Holden and Newton South East are next up for Peabody this weekend as they try for another state Little League title.

The game was off to a good start for Peabody, scoring two runs in the first inning and maintaining a 3-2 lead in the fifth, but things fell apart after that in the next two innings thanks to Hanover's Mike Simon.
The Salem News reports that Simon knocked in two home runs -- a solo and a two-run homer -- in the sixth and seventh innings that went unanswered by Peabody West.
And those winning runs were despite solid pitching from Peabody, including Dan Marshall who provided relief late in the game, reports the Salem News.
The Peabody West Little League squad now plays Holden Saturday (2 p.m.) in the second round of the state finals tournament and will play Newton South East on Sunday (6 p.m.).
Both games will be back at the Cammarata complex in West Roxbury.
