Peabody's Brooksby Village Renewed As Voting Sub-Precinct

PEABODY, MA — Peabody's Brooksby Village will remain a voting location accessible to more than 1,800 senior citizens in the city after the state renewed it as a voting sub-precinct on Monday.

State Rep. Thomas Walsh (D-Peabody), State Rep. Sally Kerans (D-Danvers) and State Sen. Joan Lovely (D-Salem) sponsored the legislation that Gov. Charlie Baker signed into law.

"This voting sub-precinct at Brooksby Village is an important convenience and safety measure for the residents who live here," Walsh said. "Route 114 is currently undergoing a state road safety audit and allowing residents to remain in their community to vote alleviates the hassle of traveling on Route 114, which is oftentimes busy during voting hours."

Sub-precincts must be renewed after cities and towns reconfigure their wards following each census.

"Voting is fundamental to our democratic process and it’s imperative that residents have access to this constitutional right," Lovely said. "Proud to work alongside Representative Tom Walsh to make Brooksby Village a polling location for our seniors so they can easily access the polls and vote close to home."

Brooksby Village has been a voting location since 2005 and was last renewed in 2012.
