PHOTOS: Peabody Baseball Falls to Lynn English
The Tanners' bats fell silent on a rare day when pitcher Pat Ruotolo needed their help.
It was just two weeks ago that the with solid pitching and a handful of runs, but this Sunday at home, even with ace Pat Ruotolo on the mound, the Peabody boys saw a complete reversal of that last game.
Lynn English started things off with a run, but it wasn't until the eighth inning that the Bulldogs stretched the lead to five. Peabody finally batted in its lone run of the game thanks to a single from Matt McIsaac in the bottom of the ninth.
Ironically, Lynn English was the 21st seed in the Division I North tournament while Peabody was No. 5 on a 16-6 season. That being said, the Salem News reports this is the third time in the last five seasons the Tanners' playoff run has been cut short by an opponent seeded 20th or lower.
