PHOTOS: Tanners Down Bulldogs, Secure in Postseason Berth

Blanking Salem earlier in the week, the Tanners secured a spot for themselves in the state tournament and then went on to dust up Lynn English as well Friday evening . This will be Peabody's 18th consecutive trip to the playoffs.

On Friday, Peabody ended the night 4-1 with a win from senior Tommy Burns and the Tanners' bats making a comeback late in the game (two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings) from the Bulldogs' lone run in the first inning.

Peabody did lose to non-league opponent Xaverian Brothers on Saturday, 9-1, putting the Tanners' overall record at 12-6 as they prepare to face Lynn Classical on the road Monday night (7 p.m.) and host Revere on Wednesday (4 p.m.) before hosting a Tanner City tournament Saturday and Sunday.

The MIAA says it will announce tournament seedings May 29 and preliminary and first round games will start no earlier than May 31.
