Pizza Fest A Wild Success

"Best Pizza in Peabody" winner announced. Thousands of dollars raised for food pantry.

Peabody's first-ever Pizza Fest drew over a thousand people to Railroad Avenue last Sunday afternoon. Nine of Peabody's pizza-makers donated dozens of large and specialty pizzas for attendees to sample. Those that came down and paid a $5 admission fee were able to cast three votes for their favorite slices.

Coming out on top for "Best Pizza in Peabody 2017" was Plum Tomatoes on Summit Street. Following in second was Kelley Square Pub on Washington Street and in a close third place was the legendary Mr. G's on Lowell Street.

But more important than the competition on Sunday was the worthy cause that organizers and business owners decided to have benefit from the event. Admission proceeds - totaling over $4,000 - will be donated to the Haven From Hunger on Wallis Street.

The Haven recently merged with Citizens Inn, another Peabody-based social services organization, but will continue to operate on Wallis Street and under the same name.
