Police: Birth Certificate, $5,000 Cash and 60-Inch TV Stolen; Party Reported Receiving a Fraudulent Check Through the Mail; Oven Fire

Sunday, April 12

At 1:31 a.m., motor vehicle stop on Gardner Street. Winthrop E. Lewis, 25, of Peabody, will be summonsed for operating an unregistered/uninsured motor vehicle. The vehicle was towed.

At 12:11 p.m., assist other department on Lynnfield Street. Caller reported her oven was on fire. Self-cleaning oven was smoking. Firefighters disconnected the oven and brought it outside.

At 2:02 p.m., motor vehicle stop at Borders Books and Music on Andover Street. Written warning for red light violation.

At 3:14 p.m., burglary on Keys Drive. Caller believes her apartment was broken into. Officer reported that there was forced entry sometime between 10 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. $5,000 cash, a birth certificate and a 60-inch flat screen television.

At 4:30 p.m., suspicious activity on Lynn Street. Reporting party stated that a black vehicle with a white roof drove by and shot a BB or pellet gun at his house. Vehicle located. Andrew J. Travis, 23, of Salem, will be summonsed for disorderly conduct and discharging a bb gun from a vehicle.

At 7:20 p.m., attempt to serve warrant on Endicott Street. Salem PD asked for a check of the area for a suspect.

Monday, April 13

At 10:03 a.m., parking enforcement on Main Street. 22 parking tickets issued.

At 10:38 a.m., animal complaint on Dana Road. Received notification of an animal bite involving a Jack Russell terrier. The other dog was a German Shepherd. Both dogs bit each other during the incident.

At 10:52 a.m., fraud on Surrey Lane. Party reported receiving a fraudulent check through the mail. Party did not report losing any money, He was advised to contact the credit bureaus as a precaution.

At 11:18 a.m., lost wallet at the Sylvan St. Grille. Party lost a black Nike leather Wallet containing credit cards only. Believed it was at the Sylvan St Grille.
