Police Probe Theft of $800 Pocketbook from Vehicle

A brief summary of arrests, motor vehicle accidents and crimes investigated by city police.

The following is an excerpt from the Peabody Police log from Thursday, April 28 through Sunday, May 1.

Thursday:

  • At 4:17 p.m., police summonsed a Peabody man for two counts of domestic assault and battery following an incident at a Main Street residence.
  • At 5:06 p.m., police arrested a Revere woman for shoplifting at The Gap store at the Northshore Mall. Jacqueline R. Murphy, 27, of 65 Malden St., in Revere, was charged with shoplifting by concealing merchandise, third offense.
  • At 5:44 p.m., police summonsed a Peabody man for shoplifting by concealing merchandise at the Macy's Mens and Furniture store at the Northshore Mall.
  • At 7:47 p.m., police reported a breaking and entering into a motor vehicle at Carrabba's restaurant on 1 Newbury St. The caller said someone smashed a window and stole her $800 pocketbook and credit cards.

  • At 2:56 a.m., police summonsed a Peabody woman for domestic assault and battery following an incident at a Warren Street residence.
  • At 8:29 a.m., police arrested a Peabody man on a Peabody Police Department warrant and on another department warrant at 620 Lowell St. Daniel P. Belliveau, 23, of 620 Lowell St., in Peabody, was charged on a Peabody Police warrant for breaking and entering during nightime, felony, and possession of a burglarious instrument. He was charged on another warrant for operating under the influence of drugs.
  • At 9:17 a.m., police reported that a Peabody Police cruiser required a tow after sustaining two flat tires on Forest Street.
  • At 9:38 a.m., police arrested a Peabody man on two Peabody Police Department warrants and another outstanding warrant. James C. Candilieri, 40, of 1 McIntire Court, in Peabody, was charged with several motor vehicle violations, including operating a motor vehicle with a suspended drivers license, having no inspection sticker, having an uninsured motor vehicle and having an unregistered motor vehicle.
  • At 10:27 a.m., police arrested another Peabody man on an oustanding Peabody Police Department warrant at 111R Main St. Paul J. Ruzzo, 43, of 111R Main St., Apt. 3, in Peabody, was charged with possession of a Class B drug and operating under the influence of liquor.
  • At 11 a.m., police reported a larceny at a residence on Goodale Avenue. The caller said $1,000 worth of tools were taken from a shed.
  • At 12:12 p.m., police summonsed a Chelsea man for domestic assault and battery following a domestic on the corner of Farm Avenue and Forest Street.
  • At 1:20 p.m., police arrested two Lynn men following a report of suspicious activity at the Macy's department store at the Northshore Mall. Michael S. Stang, 24, of 135 Ocean St., Apt. 22A, in Lynn, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Terrence Q. Smith, 42, of 242 Boston St., Apt. 2, in Lynn, was charged on another department warrant for larcency by check over $250.
  • At 2:39 p.m., police summonsed a Peabody man for shoplifting more than $100 of merchandise from the Sears department store at the Northshore Mall.
  • At 7:06 p.m., police arrested a Peabody man at 37 Tremont St. at Luso's American Credit Union following a motor vehicle stop. Fabio D. Oliveira, 42, of 19 Berry St., Apt. 3, in Peabody, was charged with operating a motor vehicle after having his driver's license revoked as a habitual traffic offender and failure to display owner's name.

Saturday:

  • At 5:41 a.m., police reported grafitti at Springs Pond on Lynn Street. About an hour later, police reported grafitti at McArthur Park on McArthur Circle.
  • At 9:59 a.m., police reported a breaking and entering into a motor vehicle onTracey Street. The caller said a Garmin GPS and 20 CDs were stolen.
  • At 11:18 a.m., police arrested a Peabody man for assault and battery. Adolfo C. Gallucio, 84, of 10 Quail Road, in Peabody, was domestic charged with assault and battery.
  • At 4:28 p.m., police reported a brush fire near Renald's Road off Route 128 and Route 114. The fire was actually located across the Peabody/Danvers line and the Danvers Fire Department took charge of the scene.
  • At 5:16 p.m., police reported a multi-car accident in the Northshore Mall parking lot near Sears department store. Police said one motor vehicle driver experienced accelerator problems and struck several parked cars. Only one vehicle was towed from the scene. There were no injuries reported.

  • At 7:03 a.m., police reported grafitti at Spring Hill Suites on 43 Newbury St. on a brick building.
  • At 3:51 p.m., police reported a larceny on Mandalay Drive where the caller said some money was stolen.
