Police: Two Pedestrians Struck and Injured on Washington Street; Woman Tax-Scammed Out of $4,500; Larceny of Two Stationary Hair Dryer Chairs and One Salon Chair

Monday, April 27

At 3:45 p.m., larceny on Nancy Avenue. Caller reported that the supposed IRS scammed her out of $4,500 today.

At 6:32 p.m., larceny at Nancy James Hair Salon on Tremont Street. Larceny of two stationary hair dryer chairs and one salon chair.

At 6:37 p.m., lost pocketbook reported on Lowell Street.

At 7:22 p.m., burglary attempt on Perley Avenue. Father, not on scene, reported his 13-year-old is home and heard somebody attempting to gain access at the front door. A call was placed to the boy at the home, and he reported the last sound he heard was approximately five minutes ago. Officers checked the exterior and interior of the residence and all appears to be in order. Mother arrived while officers were on scene.

At 10:13 p.m., pedestrian accident on Washington Street. Multiple reports of two pedestrians struck by a motor vehicle. Ambulance requested, Vehicle remained on scene. Washington Street Closed in the area of 195 Washington. One victim transported to Beverly Hospital, and the second victim transported to Salem Hospital, Vehicle towed.

At 10:58 p.m., arrest on Winona Street and moulton Road. Off-duty Topsfield Police officer reported the motor vehicle off the road, with impaired operator at the scene. Matthew M. Anderson, 22, of Peabody, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor and marked lanes violation.

Tuesday, April 28

At 5:40 a.m., assist citizen on Harris Street. Complaint via MyPD app that a silver BMW and a gray Ford Focus have been parking in a manner that obstructed the fire hydrant. Both vehicles were cited for parking too close to the fire hydrant.

At 6:14 a.m., vandalism on Driscoll Street. Caller reported his vehicle appeared to have been shot at with a pellet gun sometime last night. Officer reported it appeared random, and that the windows were shot out with a pellet gun. Officer will document the incident.

At 9:39 a.., tax fraud on Gwinnett Road. Party walked into the station to report tax fraud.

At 1:27 p.m., parking enforcement at Northshore Mall. Two citations issued.
